Forward Controls
I added these boat cleats to my pickup tailgate to make hauling my bike easier.
Saturday I replaced my mid-controls with these 3" extended forward controls from Kuryakyn. It was easier than the HD dealer said it would be to do it myself and now I don't get so cramped up on the thing.

I think its great you've found a hobby/interest/funthingtodo that is YOURS AND YOURS ALONE! I can't (and won't) give you advice on this particular subject.
