17Feb2007

It's now been a whole month since we left home in Wa. Things are going well so far both for me and the ship mission. The Captain came on and said we've steamed 10500 miles over the past month. Whether Nautical Miles or regular miles, that's a lot of miles. These pictures are from 3 days ago (morning).

Day 25

Nothing like seeing land after nothing but water for a few days. Here I got to see the coastline of the Phillipines, going through the Straits of Wherever with the rest of the battle group shown above. Too bad we didn't stop in. I'd really like to stretch my legs on some solid ground for a few days(and have a beer or two).

06FEB2007 2000 -10K

Here are a few pics from tonight I took as the sun was going down. They were doing flight operations at the same time so I killed two birds with one proverbial (Panasonic) stone. It's a brisk 90 or so degrees around these parts and the weather man says it's not getting any better any time soon. This morning we did the Cruise Battle Group photos where all the ships get together and someone in a helicopter takes a few pictures for the photo album. Hopefully I can get a copy and share it with you. It should be a pretty neat pic.

Good morning everyone. Here's a picture from yesterday at the beginning of the Super Bowl before the Bears really messed up. Notice Supply provided us with ice cold near-beer and official Super Bowl programs. Plus they served chicken wings and jalapeno poppers on the mess decks. A good time was had by all, except the guys who got busted hoarding O'Doul's in their berthing lounge. I guess the boat cops thought they were going to get drunk and rowdy down there.

We actually didn't get to watch the game on Sunday, being that we're so many time zones away. It was actually broadcast by Armed Forces Network on Monday at 0930, and they put in their own military commercials instead of the ones that we all really wanted to see.
