Merry Christmas

Here I sit at the Armed Forces Service Center in the Twin Cities airport. I've got a little 5 hour layover before going back to Seattle. These past two weeks I've spent back in North and South Dakota for Xmas leave. It was a busy leave period, don't ya know. I had a lot of fun and got to see just about everyone I wanted to. I'll leave you with a Norsky joke-
Sven, Ole, and Lena got invitations to go to this party. The invitation said that they must dress up as an emotion. So Sven goes to his house, and Ole and Lena go to theirs. Lena goes upstairs to change, she comes downstairs all dressed in red. Ole asks Lena, "Vut are yew supposed ta be?" Lena says, "I'm red vith furry." So Ole goes upstairs to change, he comes downstairs all dressed in green. Lena asks Ole, "Vut are yew supposed to be?" Ole says, "I'm green vith envy."
Ole and Lena get a knock on their front door, so Ole answers it. There is Sven standing butt-naked with a tire around his waist! Ole says, "Vut in va vorld are vu supposed ta be?" Sven says, "I'm in da spare!"

GO NAVY!

Here's to more responsibility and fewer people to answer to, but more importantly a few extra dollars every paycheck. This is the kind of deal that makes people consider re-enlisting. E-5 in less than 3 years? Not unheard of, but definitely above the standard rate of advancement.

Here's a picture of me with the CO of the ship. After shaking my hand he said "Petty Officer Hanson, congratulations on your advancement. I'm proud of you." Though I know he couldn't care less whether or not I ever get promoted, I suppose he had to say something nice. If I was him I would've probably said something like, "Hey Hanson good job. You know what they say... 'Two chevrons are better than one!"
